My thoughts on the relationship if any between STDs, immorality, promiscuous behavior and low social status.

  1. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)have been around from the very beginning of time when man started having heterosexual and homosexual intercourse or relations. STDs are not new diseases or infections as evidenced by the increasing numbers of people worldwide that have them causing major health problems.

Every person who has unprotected sex. engages in risky sexual behavior and shares a needle is at risk for developing a STD. This information is not new even though the numbers of infected individuals continues to rise. I do believe there is a relationship with contacting a sexually transmitted disease with immorality, promiscuous behavior, and low social stauts. However, the relationship is not limited to these factors as everyone can be potentially at risk.

Informed decision making plays a major role in who contacts a STD, regardless of age, gender, social economic status, or promiscuous behavior. I realize this does not pertain to those individuals who can not be pro-active due to culture and religious practices. People at every level need access to accurate information regarding STDs and safe sex practices.

Individuals who are immoral and have frequent sexual partners need to look inward as to why they behave in a particulat manner, and what is the pay off for them. A person with a healthly self image will have high esteem and make healthy decisions and life choices. Contracting a STD does not mean or insinuate that a person is immoral, promiscuous, or of low social status. These individuals are just at a higher risk.

  2. I really enjoyed your post! I wrote about the same thing, but you really conveyed it in an appropriate manner. Those factors do not always make up the reason someone contracts an STD. Your post was informative and I enjoyed reading it because your perspective allowed me to think about it at a deeper level.
    Thanks,
