What health issues are you most concerned about? Why? Interview 2-3 women ( different ages, ethnic backgrounds, cultures) and ask them the same question. Are your concerns similar of different? Explain

  1. Health issues that I am personally concerned about are heart disease and cancer as both of these run on both sides of my family. I am also very concerned with the current state of healthcare reform and how it will effect me, my family, and the country when and if it ever comes to a satisifiable solution.

Everyone I talk to regardless of gender or race is concerned about the current state of healthcare, what direction it is going, and how it is going to effect them.

For the pupose of this assignment the two women I spoke to were concerned with heart disease and diabetes, as they were personally experiencing these health issues. One woman was 79 years old and is scheduled to have open heart surgery within the next three months, and fears that she will not get the quality healthcare she is entitled to due to her age and pre-existing conditions.

The other woman is a forty-eight year old single mother who recently lost her job and has no health insurance at the present time. The cost of medications for heer diabetes is very expensive and she has a special needs son that requires medication for ADD and asthma. Her primary concerns are for her children and how she will pay for the medications.

She questions why the pharmaceutical companies are able to dictate to the insurance companies, and why there is such a disparity in the cost of medications in this country compared to other countries, and we are subsidizing them when many Americans have to choose which medications to take becuase of lack of insurance or loss of jobs.
