1.) When preparing your news article on the economics of women's health care in the U.S., did you find any information that was alarming or surprising?

2.) Do you believe that access to healthcare is a right or a prilvedge?

  1. I believe that as citizens of the United States healthcare services should be a right and not a privilege. However, as the economy continues to decline with more people becoming unemployed and loosing healthcare insurance, or are no longer able to afford it, healthcare is quickly becoming a privilege.

I am very aware of many of the implications and the cost of insuring every American, but it seems to me that the costs to the government, healthcare field, and each individual without healtcare benefits is far surpassing the approximated costs to insure everyone.

I am not alone in the realization that there is something seriously wrong with the direction, or lack of direction this country is taking. I attempt to keep up to date with the news and the everchanging healthcare reform, but seem to become more confused about what I hear rather than gain a clearer comprehension. I really don't understand why billions and billions of dollars can be given towards unnecessary projects in this country when that money could be allocated to the insurance of every American having equal rights and access to quality healthcare.

  2. Michelle,

I agree with you in wondering why there are billions of dollars being spent on unnecessary projects when they should be doing somthing constructive with it. By spending all of that money it is increasing our nation's debt and it is for trivial projects. The cost of health care insurance is high and I think that it should be more affordable and easier to obtain. People should have the ability to obtain private health insurance that does not cost a ridiculous amount.

Enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your point of view. :)

  3. Hello Michelle,
I totally agree with you that healthcare should be the citizens right and not a privilege. Also, health insurance should be affordable for everyone. I think compare to other countries we are still blessed with healthcare services that is offered in this country. We are privilege to live in such great country.
